    Greetings from Internet Purgatory.
    And we’re not sprung yet.

Life on Overlook Drive in Danbury CT really sucks right now. Two broken computers (one repaired as of yesterday, for all the good it does me), no phone and therefore no internet, since a week ago Saturday. We have Frontier Communications fools driving around out there. They’ve told my husband, “we can’t find the damage.”

He says, this is no mystery. You locate where the service has failed and go pole by pole with a device that reads the current in the line. Why has this taken a week (and no encouraging noises out of anyone as to when we might expect restoration)? We have no smart phone. We have a barebones cell phone that doesn’t work at our house. We’re in an area where a signal does not penetrate. I could work on chapter fifteen of Sly, but I had taken to typing directly into my site. Then my iMac started misbehaving. Then my big Mac died.

I’m using this time to read, and now to reread and highlight, passages in my John Dee biography. Now I have problems. I need to think. I read elsewhere that Dee followed Count Laski to Poland for financial reasons. No. It’s way more complicated than that. How much of that do I want to bring in? This story is, after all, about the cat.

Now, when I read, I like to take notes into the computer. My Mac downstairs has no Word on it, but I found I could open an already started word doc and type into it in Open Office. But it seems that I am unable to save my additions in Office, because when I opened the doc a day later to continue, none of the new material was there.

I’ve tried to work on the garden, but that is quickly losing its charm. After a few hours in the yard, up and down, up and down, my back is a wreck. I rummaged around in the (flourishing) weeds to find something I planted last summer, to see how it was doing, and it appears to be eaten off to a pathetic naked stalk. We have groundhogs.

I am writing this on my husband’s laptop. I am going to Starbucks later today or tomorrow to post it.

We had a week of no power, after that storm. Then I had a week of my computers first acting up, then completely dying on me. Now we have a week of no phone/internet. I’ve had stomach problems, probably from stress. What is going to go wrong next?

Miracle! A miracle! We just got home from Starbucks and the little red light on the modum has gone away. Oh my God, what a disaster this week has been.

I don’t need a blog to express my opinions. Sly is my Alter Ego. Or maybe I’m his.

One of us is going to try to write a post tonight. Who will you be hearing from? Impossible to say until I start writing.
