The Silk Thief – Cover Reveal

By Claire Buss

I am delighted to be invited by GD Deckard to post here at Writer Co-Op – thank you! I am a fantasy and sci-fi writer who enjoys a good book and a slice of cake. For my first post here, I’d love to share the details of my upcoming book, The Silk Thief.

Cover design by Ian Bristow

A humorous urban fantasy novel, The Silk Thief is the second book in my Roshaven Series. Here’s the blurb:

Fourteen, heir to the Empire of Roshaven, must find a new name before Theo, Lord of neighbouring Fidelia, brings his schemes to fruition.

Not only has he stolen Roshaven’s trade, but he plans to make Fourteen his own and take her empire in the bargain.

Her protector, Ned Spinks, is plagued with supernatural nightmares whilst his assistant, Jenni the sprite, has lost her magick.

Can they figure out how to thwart Theo’s dastardly plan before it’s too late for his city and her empire?

  1. Thanks Claire! As it says in our very first post, “Here we are!” of April 2016, we were thinking of a site that writers can use to promote their books. Because who wants to write a book and then not promote it? That’s like a painter working for years on a picture, then turning it to the wall. So, Congratulations on your books! And, thank you for sharing. The Co-op welcomes anyone who’s willing to invest a little time and effort into promoting books worth reading. We wish your novels, and you, all the best!

  2. I second GD and Victor above: Welcome! And good luck with the books, Claire.

PS. I oftentimes suggest that writers visiting our site hawking their wares (always be marketing, heh!) provide a representative passage or two from published works so that we may better appreciate their narrative style. Laudatory blurbs from divers reviewers may be validating and energizing to the writer, but potential new readers would like to sample the book before buying.

PPS. Based on the blurbs, your subject matter and tone sound delightful: I get an impression of a gently subversive narrative style powered by sharply honed witticism and the light, deft touch of whimsy. Can you tell/show us more?

I’ve read a few pages of Magick Shoppe. I’ll read it all later.

I am not one for elves and spells, but, you have charmed me with your entertaining dialogue. I am really enjoying it.

Head and shoulders above the usual, as far as characterization goes. I have to believe you handle story as deftly.
