Do I get an editor’s account to constructively put up the tales I want thrashed and torn asunder? Or how does this work? Do I need a pirate name, too?

Yes and no. Yes, Motley Scriveners will have full editorial access to their pages & No, don’t need a pirate name.

Is there a link/menu item going from the writercoop to themotleyscriveners?

Not at the moment. It’s “Under Construction.” The only way to view it is to use the domain name, TheMotleyScriveners.com

Once Mimi has the portal page ready, we can begin to set up individual pages.

Arg, I christened me own pirate name in April 2009. Got me own flag, too. Had me own ship, but scallywags bound fer Mexico me thinks commandeered it in the middle o’ one night not long ago.

BTW 😏 You may have noticed design changes on the page. This is normal when adding a new section, as Mimi and I are experimenting with themes as we go.

Correction: Mimi has redesigned the site with no help from me. I really like this look.

(I’d remove the author’s bio if I could. But that’s just a quibble.)

I definitely think the background color is easy on the eyes. And I like the menu … somehow seems easier to navigate … haven’t tried it on mobile yet.

GD, this still has bugs that I haven’t figured out how to fix. This site comes up if you enter writercoop.wordpress.com

If I type writercoop.com I get: unable to connect, or something like that.

The logo in the header, I m going to fix that white area.

This has been one of the most miserable weekends I’ve ever spent.

Oh yeah. The Archives (draft) in the index shows up in the edit site screen, but not in the saved site.

We’ll find more bugs, I’m sure. And I still have to deal with the Motley site. But first I need a day off. Maybe hiding in bed under my covers. I’m worn out from fighting that damn new editor. I can’t do some of the simplest things, like centering that logo.

BTW, I see a statement: discarded themes will still work on your site, but if you change to a new theme, the old one cannot be retrieved. It’s gone for good. New themes with additional functions have been created.

My theme for Sly is no longer available either. Well, I’ll deal with that when I come to it.

Hey Mimi, so sorry your weekend is miserable!! As to the links … I believe there is a setting thing that has to happen between wordpress and the motleyscriveners.com. It’s a vague annoying memory from when I was setting up my artistbyaccident website last year. I wouldn’t worry about it too much. GD seems to understand how it all works and can likely remedy that. I don’t think it impedes the web design portion.

Ahhh Mimi! I think I can relate. When I did my first website I broke it so many times I would spend days trying to fix it. Finally went on you tube and looked for someone to walk me through it. I had the you tube video on my phone where I would pause it to fix something then continue the video. I lost some sleep and several braincells I’ll never find again.

True, you can’t use a redirected domain name to edit the site. We have to use
      writercoop.wordpress.com/the-motley-scriveners/
      to edit the site.

      The domain names
      WritersCo-op.com
      &
      TheMotleyScriveners.com
      are for general public use.

Some images do not display on the front page (See page two). I suspect that is because the image has been placed under the headline. I’ll check it out. tomorrow. Not tonight. I’m going up to bed.

I or GD or Curtis can try to put that (was it Renoir?) table scene back in the header. I suggest it go between the logo and the index. If we put it back, I will probably want to change the logo type to something more elegant. But that’s easy enough to do, in Photoshop.

I’ll see if I can put back that header scene, tomorrow. It was from Renoir’s ‘Luncheon Of The Boating Party’

    Mimi,
You may feel miserable, but your work is excellent. And there is absolutely no rush. Please take plenty of time to do this and take days off as you go. We are not in any hurry. We are grateful for your help but we do not want you to suffer from it.

Thanks, GD. I’m thinking about making the captions on the front page color. I’m thinking about adding thinnish borders, also in color. In short, I’m thinking about jazzing the page up.

GD, give me that address to edit the Motley page again. I stuck it somewhere and I can’t find it. Also: why can’t I edit from within the site? I guess I need a permission. Who can give it to me?

Okay, I am about to insert my idea for a logo for the Motley Scriveners site and possibly for here also. The drawings are only a general look. The head and the guy on the horse are from Aristotle’s manuscripts, surely in the public domain. The others, more recent, I will rework or even create something of my own. This is going to be a lot of work, so I want feedback before I begin. The alternative is to have only the type, or the type with the Renoir art.

I am going to simplify the drawings a bit, for better clarity, and, call me a masochist, I am wondering if I can replace that type with lines from a few of our various works.

I’d like to give that head an Elvis sneer. And I’m definitely going to do something with the eyes.

THIS EDITOR IS BRUTAL. BRUTAL! BRUTAL! I’m trying to figure out how to set up the logo so it doesn’t sit in odd alignment when the screen changes – desktop to tablet, etc. I have a new solution in mind, but I’ll try it tomorrow, I’ve had it for today. Just when I get a grasp of this horrible editor, they’ll upgrade it to a new one. I know it, I just know it.

I’ve always been good at workarounds. Thirty years ago, working in the lowest of the low, Pagemaker, everyone said I did things in it no one else could figure out how to do. And I did!
