Flash Fiction Fun

What might be the shortest story is accredited to Hemingway:
“For sale: baby shoes, never worn.”

Write an extremely brief story and post it in the comments.
I’ll start with:

A VERY SHORT MAGIC STORY

+++More interested in the lady bug on her wand than in the instructor’s question, Mary answered, very carefully pronouncing, “ex tempore de integro.”
+++Spellmaster Pritchart wrote “Time Loop” on the blackboard. “Anyone know what this is? If you do, please remember to be very careful using this spell. It causes time to start over one minute in the past.”

  1. Perry Palin says:

    TEN WORDS

The note was ten awful words, black ink on half a sheet of lined paper pulled from a notebook, crumpled, then smoothed and folded between the pages of an old book.

A spring wind turned over the new leaves, and then a warm rain pushed the city dust into the street. Birds carried small things to make their nests.

I remember the hair on your arms, your dark eyes, I remember the scent of you.

The envelope melted in the rain, but the message was there. “I won’t be there Tuesday. I can’t do this anymore.”

That’s good. Thanks, Perry. There’s something about flash fiction akin to poetry. Both evoke emotions and images that have been packed into a few words.

Sorry, GD, I have no energy for this. I’m slashing my way through chapter eleven of the PP episode. I can’t get myself to think of anything else. I hope to wrap it up with thirteen chapters, but it begins to look like fourteen or even fifteen. Those goal posts, they don’t want to stay put.
