You must have noticed the change in appearance, and you might have wondered if we’ve become a coop instead of a co-op, but rest. Assured that we are simply updating a website that has not changed in eight years, you can breathe. Easy, though it’s not. It’s a process that includes a bit: of stuttering.
Mimi Spieke is doing the work and we’ve all seen the results of her efforts that created Sly and Maisie and their friends. Mimi’s efforts result in incredibly detailed, amazingly accurate and absolutely entertaining results. But it’s the behind-the-scenes efforts themselves that we usually don’t see.
Sue Ranscht is witnessing those efforts as she works with Mimi to keep our Show Case feature going. Right now, look for the current Show Case under “Show Case 2” at the top of the page. Clicking that button takes you to our Critique Exchange page, so better scroll down to the Show Case theme.
The problem is WordPress. They offer new themes, but new themes come with different rules and trying a new theme immediately changes the rules and deletes the old theme. Y’can’t go back. So, when I tried a new look, we ended up here, in free-fall, heading for a new look. It’s like on-the-job training for hang gliding.
Enjoy the chaos while you can. And thank Mimi and Sue for efforts way beyond the call.
Severely beaten as a child by a WWII hero and combat-induced-PTSD stepfather, the author, as a teen, faced the old man down with a shotgun and earned his blessing to join the military at the time Americans were learning about a country called Vietnam. The “lazy, no good son-of-a-bitch” opted out of combat and hard labor by becoming an Air Force medic, stamping out suffering and misery on Freedom’s Frontier at Clark Airbase in S.E. Asia and earning some kind of medal pinned on him personally by then Secretary of the Air Force, Harold Brown, for “Saving lives, etc.”
There followed a summer in Europe ending in the first of happy marriages. Then graduation with University Honors, kids worth dying for and a career in business. Life is good.
